The turban is rapidly becoming one of the most creative, ethnic, and eccentric pieces of fashion. The best thing about a fashion turban it presents a fashionable solution to a bad hair day. Additionally, it is a much better alternative to a satin bonnet meant to be worn when sleeping and not socializing. Satin bonnets are like a hair care version of sweatpants, and always look like the wearer did not try to wear them properly. Having several bright and patterned scarves can turn a bad hair day to a cool fashion statement. For those who do not know where to begin, here are some guidelines on how to tie a fashion turban.

The forehead wrap is one of the quickest and easiest fashion turban looks that anyone can achieve. It involves gathering the hair into a low bun or ponytail at the nape of the neck. If one has a square-shaped scarf, they can fold it diagonally into half in a way that corners meet, forming a long triangle.

The straight edge is placed in the center of the forehead so that the remaining parts of the scarf and triangle point are pointing at the neck. The other ends are tied into a knot and the loose ends allowed to hang free. Alternatively, it can be tied into multiple knots to nestle the side of the neck.

The other way is a headband or ponytail wrap. To achieve this look, one can gather the hair into a low ponytail and then tie the scarf around the ponytails base with one knot. To accent high ponytails or free-flowing hair, the scarf can be folded up into a band and then tie it like a bow around the crown.

Rosie the Riveter wrap is the other way of tying a turban. It can be achieved through diagonally lining up the squares of a huge square scarf in a way that they make a big triangle. The middle of the scarfs straight edge is then placed at the nape of the neck in a way that the hair is laying on the scarf. The ends of the scarf are taken and then tied lightly on top of the head. The top corner of the triangle is tucked under a knot so that the hair is gathered in a bundle.

The African Gele is another popular way of tying fashion turbans in Nigeria. To tie a Gele, fold the scarf in way that the width is approximately six inches. It is then wrapped around the head in a way that the right side roughly one and a half times longer than the left side.

The left side is pushed while the right side is crossed over, but keeping both sides out. The ends are pulled by the wearer so that the wrap is as tight as they are comfortable with.

Another cool way of how to tie a fashion turban is Rosette turbans. They work best when rectangular scarves having diagonal folds are used. The long folded edge is folded against the forehead and both ends brought together and tied into a knot.
